Ecological constraints

Ecological constraints

Ecological constraints surveys comprise a walkover survey coupled with a review of publicly held information from Natural England’s Nature on the Map; the NBN Gateway and MAGIC (Multi-Agency Geographic Information for the Countryside).

The survey will note any potential ecological constraints, including habitat suitable to support protected species, potentially sensitive habitats, ecological features of interest including field signs of protected species and invasive non-native species. Whilst this level of survey is not usually suitable to support a planning application, it is useful as an initial appraisal of a site, or to support due diligence work.

An annotated map and associated short letter-report is produced as a result of this type of survey.
